About Us

In 2015 a small group of Windrush Generation residents from Gravesham joined a creative writing course, funded by Kent Adult Education to write about their journeys from the Caribbean to Kent.

At this time, there was no formal group or detailed history of people from the Caribbean, their heritage or their contribution to Kent communities.

Inspired by the interest generated by the project and their own personal achievements, the North Kent Caribbean Network was established to:

  • Provide opportunities for elderly members to socialise, share their experiences and personal contributions to Kent life.
  • Develop training for both leisure and professional development.
  • Provide opportunities for voluntary and statutory organisations to inform and interact with the Caribbean community.
  • Host events to educate, commemorate and celebrate Kent’s diverse communities.

Our Seniors Lunch Group still meet every week and everyone is welcome to join us. Sometimes we have guest speakers, sometimes we just sit and chat, but food and fun is always on the menu!
